Grain Full (小满) is the eighth solar term in the Chinese lunar calendar and usually arrives around May 21st. Its name means “grains filling up,” as this is the time when wheat and other crops start to become plump but are not yet fully ripe. Grain Full marks the middle of the spring-summer transition, and the weather continues to grow warmer and more humid.
Farmers are very busy during this period. In many areas, wheat fields shine with green and gold. While the grains are maturing, farmers must be careful of pests and rain, as strong storms sometimes happen.
